Jaime is one of the five artists selected for the 2020 Joe’s Pub Working Group residency.

Joe’s Pub, a program and venue of The Public Theater, announces the new class of Joe’s Pub Working Group (JPWG), the venue’s artist development program dedicated to enhancing the career sustainability and growth of performing artists. Entering its sixth year, JPWG welcomes five artists – cabaret artist Salty Brine, vocalist and composer Sarah Elizabeth Charles, musician and musical theater composer Jaime Lozano, Indian classical and crossover vocalist Roopa Mahadevan, and singer-songwriter Kirsten Maxwell – into the group, which represents the diversity and scope of the nightly programming at Joe’s Pub.

Joe’s Pub sits at the crux of New York City’s live music and downtown performing arts scenes. The venue has come to be defined by the freedom it offers artists onstage every night of the year. Artists ranging from Sandra Bernhard, Alan Cumming, and Billy Porter to Catherine Cohen, Cole Escola, and Larry Owens have used the space to debut new material and build their communities.

But no one calls. No one asks. No one sees the tiredness hiding behind her eyeliner. No one knows how heavy a whisper can feel after a long day of pretending. Being a call girl in dehradun means being wanted — but only in fragments. They want her body, not her pain. Her smile, not her scars. Her presence, not her past.

Really inspiring to see artists like Jaime getting recognized residencies like this can be life-changing. I’ve come to understand how important creative outlets are for emotional balance too. During a rough patch, I found Paw Tenant while exploring emotional support options, and it reminded me how powerful it is when people have space to express and heal through their work. This kind of opportunity truly matters.

Wow, fantastic artist development program! Joe's Pub continues to nurture incredible talent. Speaking of creativity, this reminds me of discovering unexpected combinations in Infinite Craft - just like these artists blend musical genres, I love crafting unique elements in the game. Exciting to see such diverse performers getting supported!
